Main Dish
- 3 c Chickpeas, boiled
- 1 Onion, finely diced
- 2 clove Garlic, finely chopped
- 1.5 inch Ginger, finely chopped
- 2 c Tomato sauce
- 0.5 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 0.5 tsp Salt, or to taste
- 0.5 c Cilantro, chopped
- 3 tsp Indian Curry Spice Blend
Or make your own spice blend
- 2 tsp garam masala
- 0.5 tsp Turmeric powder
- 0.5 tsp Ginger powder
- 1 tsp Paprika

Preparation of Chana Masala
1. Begin by heating a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Toast the cumin seeds until they begin to pop.
3. Add the onion together with salt and roast until translucent.
4. Add garlic and ginger and sauté until fragrant.
5. Next, add the diced tomatoes and spices and cook for a few more minutes until the mixture becomes fragrant and the tomatoes have broken down.
6. Finally, add the canned chickpeas and cook for a few more minutes until the chickpeas are heated through and coated in the flavorful sauce.
Serving the Chana Masala
1. Serve the easy chana masala with steamed basmati rice and/or naan bread for a complete meal.
