- 1 tsp Salt, or to taste

Preparing the Potatoes
1. Start by peeling the potatoes and soaking them in water for a few minutes.
2. Grate the potatoes and add salt.
3. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes so that the salt can help release the liquid.
4. Squeeze out the excess water using a kitchen towel or cheesecloth.
Cooking the Rösti
1. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan and add the grated potatoes.
2. Pack the mixture down lightly and cook on medium heat for about 12 minutes.
3. The bottom should be lightly browned and crispy.
4. Be patient during this step and avoid turning up the temperature too high, as you don't want the outside to burn and the inside to remain raw.
5. Flip the mixture around using a large, flat plate, and add some more oil to the pan.
6. Let the Rösti slide back inside and cook the other side for 12 minutes until golden brown.
Serving the Rösti
1. Serve your Swiss Rösti immediately to keep the crispiness.
2. Enjoy it with a herbed yogurt dip with dill, parsley, and mint for added flavor.
