- 0.75 c Hazelnut Chocolate Spread
- 0.75 c Whole milk, warm
- 3 tbsp Granulated Cane Sugar
- 2.25 tsp Instant Yeast
- 0.25 c Unsalted Butter
- 1 Large egg
- 2.333 c All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Fine Sea Salt
- 2 Egg Yolks
- 2 tbsp Confectioners Sugar

Preparing the Dough
1. Heat up the milk in the microwave or over medium-low on the stovetop until warm to touch. Remove from heat and transfer to the bowl of a stand mixer.
2. Add the yeast and sugar to the milk, lightly whisk, and set aside for 5-10 minutes. The mixture should triple in size.
3. Add the softened butter and egg. Mix until smooth.
4. Add the flour and salt. Using the hook attachment, knead for 4-5 minutes, until soft and pliable dough. The goal is to have a very soft dough.
5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover to rise for 1-2 hours in a warm environment, until doubled in size.
Dividing and Rolling the Dough
1. Divide the risen dough into 4 equal parts.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each dough part into a thin 10-12" circle.
Adding the Chocolate Hazelnut Spread
1. Starting with the first circle, add a third of the chocolate hazelnut spread. Spread evenly over the dough. Add the second dough circle, and repeat the process. Do not add any chocolate spread to the last/fourth dough circle.
Creating the Star Shape
1. Place a 3" round object in the center (like a cup).
2. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut into 16 even strips.
3. Using both hands, twist two of the pieces away from each other twice. Then, press the two ends together to make a point. The star bread will have 8 total points.
4. Cover the bread with plastic wrap to rest for 10-20 minutes.
Baking the Star Bread
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Lightly beat the two egg yolks. Brush the star bread with the egg wash.
3. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
4. Let cool 5-10 minutes before serving. Dust with confectioners sugar and enjoy!
Storing the Star Bread
1. Cover and store leftover star bread at room temperature for 1-2 days, or in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
