- 1 c Cornmeal
- 1 c Flour
- 0.667 c Sugar
- 1.5 tbsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.25 c Honey
- 2 Eggs
- 1.25 c Buttermilk, or add 1 tbsp. white vinegar to milk
- 1 stick Unsalted butter

Preparation of the oven and skillet
1. Place your cast iron skillet into the oven and heat up your oven to 375°F.
Preparation of dry ingredients
1. Add all of your dry ingredients to a bowl.
Preparation of buttermilk
1. If you are creating your own buttermilk, add your vinegar to milk and whisk until frothy and let set for 5 minutes.
Mixing of ingredients
1. Add your buttermilk and eggs to the dry ingredients.
2. Mix until incorporated and smooth.
Preparation of butter
1. Once your oven has heated to 375°, add your stick of butter and melt that down for about 3 to 5 minutes.
2. The butter should be bubbly when you remove it from the oven in the cast iron.
Combining butter and batter
1. Add your butter to your batter and mix until smooth. Don't worry, the batter will kind of start to cook on the top. Just continue to mix until it's smooth.
Adding batter to skillet and drizzling honey
1. Add your smooth batter to the cast iron and drizzle your honey all over the top of the batter.
2. Use a whisk to mix in the honey.
Cooking the cornbread
1. Cook your cornbread for 20 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Letting the cornbread sit
1. Let your cornbread sit for at least 5 to 10 minutes before serving so that it does not fall apart.
Serving the cornbread
1. Drizzle with more honey and enjoy!
