- 1 Black beans, 15.5 oz can with liquid
- 1 tsp Canola oil
- 0.25 c sofrito
- 0.25 c Tomato sauce
- 1.5 c Water
- 0.5 tbsp chicken bouillon paste
- 1 tsp adobo
- 0.5 tsp sazon
- 0.25 tsp Cumin
- 0.25 tsp Dried oregano
- 1 Garlic clove, crushed
- 1 tsp Red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 Bay leaf
- 0.5 Onion, optional
- 0.5 Green bell pepper, optional
- 2 Cilantro, optional
- 0.25 c diced ham

1. Place a pot or caldero over medium heat. Add oil and diced ham, if using. Sauté ham until golden brown.
2. Add sofrito, tomato sauce, and chicken bouillon. Cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add beans, water, seasonings and stir to combine.
3. Add bay leaf, onion, bell pepper, cilantro sprigs and bring to a boil. Cover the pot and reduce heat to low. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
4. Remove bay leaf, onion, bell pepper and cilantro sprigs. Add crushed garlic, red wine vinegar, and sugar. Stir well. Cover and allow to cook on low heat about 5-10 minutes more. Serve and enjoy!
