Cheddar Jalapeño Pretzel Dogs Recipe (with Video)

Preparing the Dough
1. Whisk together 4 cups flour, sugar, and salt.
2. Add yeast, butter, and warm water and knead on high until the dough comes together and is soft and smooth.
3. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and add jalapeños and cheese.
4. Knead by hand, adding as much of the remaining 1/2 cup flour as needed, until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
5. Transfer to a greased bowl.
6. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Boiling the Pretzel Dogs
1. Transfer dough to work surface and portion out to 12 even pieces (about 75 grams each).
2. Roll each piece into a long rope and then wrap around a hot dog.
3. Place on baking sheet and continue shaping the rest.
4. Bring 10 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.
5. Add baking soda and then lower a few pretzel dogs at a time.
6. Boil for 30 seconds or so and then transfer back to a baking sheet.
Baking the Pretzel Dogs
1. Brush with egg wash top with more cheese and jalapeños.
2. Bake at 450°F for 18 to 20 minutes or until deep golden brown.
3. Cool slightly and then enjoy!
